Sterilizable Glass pH Sensor for Fermentation and Process Monitoring

The Sper Scientific 120 mm glass pH sensor measures from 0.00 to 14.00 pH in pharmaceutical production, biochemical processes, industrial fermentation, brewing and food processing. Its heat-resistant construction supports applications that require sterilization between production cycles.

A dual liquid junction and gel electrolyte reference system help provide stable measurements with reduced routine electrolyte maintenance. The Ag/AgCl reference incorporates a silver ion trap to help prevent silver sulfide deposits at the ceramic junction. The manual specifies a temperature measurement range of 0–80°C and a separate heat-resistance range of 0–130°C.

Features

  • Full 0.00–14.00 pH measurement range with a listed response time of 30–60 seconds
  • 120 mm insertion length with a 12 mm glass sensing shaft
  • Heat-resistant construction for fermentation and sterilization applications within the specified limits
  • Dual liquid junction with gel electrolyte and ceramic separator
  • Silver ion trap to help protect the reference junction from silver sulfide deposits
  • VP connection with optional temperature compensation

Installation requires a matching pH transmitter, connection cable and suitable mounting or process housing.

If you need assistance, please contact us to confirm your specific requirements before ordering.

Can the sensor be used for continuous measurement at 130°C?
The manual lists 0–80°C for temperature measurement and 0–130°C for heat resistance. Confirm continuous operating conditions and sterilization requirements for your application before installation.

How is the sensor calibrated?
The manual recommends two-point calibration using suitable pH buffers. Typical examples are pH 7 for the zero point followed by pH 4 or pH 9 for the slope. Follow the connected transmitter's calibration instructions.

How should the electrode be stored?
Keep the sensing tip and junction immersed in suitable KCl storage electrolyte when the sensor is out of service. Rinse the tip after each production cycle and prevent process residue from drying on the glass or junction.
